WILL MY HEALTH INSURANCE COVER REGISTERED DIETITIAN SERVICES?
Possibly! Nutrition counseling services may be covered by your health insurance company. It is best to get a referral from your medical doctor and to contact your insurance company to make sure that medical nutrition therapy procedure codes (CPT) 97802 & 97803, is a covered benefit. It is recommended that you get an authorization in writing from your insurance company, otherwise you may be held responsible for the charges.

WHAT IS A REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST?
A Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) is a food and nutrition expert who have met the following criteria to earn the RDN credential:
Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at a US regionally accredited university or college and course work accredited or approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Completed an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program for 10-12 months at a health-care facility with undergraduate or graduate studies.
Passed a national examination administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Completed continuing professional educational requirements to maintain registration. Credit: Eatright.org
